'The Moon Represents My Heart' Longlisted for the Chommanard International Women’s Literary Award
The Moon Represents My Heart, the debut novel by Thai author Pim Wangtechawat, has been announced as longlisted for the Chommanard International Women’s Literary Award at Thailand's 31st National Book Expo.
Published by OneWorld Publications in 2023, the time-travel novel blends experimental prose with several genres and has been translated into Thai, Spanish, Italian and other languages. Wangtechawat, who studied English Literature at King’s College London and Creative Writing at Edinburgh Napier University, followed it with her second novel, I Dreamed of You, in March 2026.

The Chommanard International Women’s Literary Award builds on the Chommanard Book Prize, established in Thailand in 2008 to support women writers. In 2026 it expanded from a national to an international platform. Created and sponsored by Bangkok Bank, it celebrates outstanding female literary talent across ASEAN and China, with a grand prize of 500,000 baht. Eligible writers come from ASEAN countries, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the award recognises cultural relevance, social impact and literary excellence.
Speaking about the announcement, Wangtechawat said: “The Moon Represents My Heart, my debut, is an unusual time-travel novel with experimental prose and an odd mix of genres (speculative? historical? sci-fi? romance? Who knows!). Born out of my random, sentimental mind, I like to think that, at its heart, it is a very honest story inspired by real family and real history. I’m so grateful to everyone who has given this book a chance and found a little bit of themselves in these characters.”
